our mission
The Cottage at Storybook Farm is unbridled in its commitment to harmony, education, and telling everyone’s story, human and animal alike. Through acts of conservation and with years of rescue experience, the Cottage is rooted in compassion and grace and is held together by resilience and overcoming challenges found in the everyday.
For the Cottage at Storybook Farms, I was originally inspired by Pippi Longstocking - her fiery passion, love for animals, her individuality and light-hearted nature always resonated with me. One day, I let myself lean into this inspiration to build something bigger than myself and so, the Cottage at Storybook Farm was born!
I believe whole-heartedly in the harmony made by connecting to animals and nature. I’ve spent many days and nights curating an experience that allows you to escape all while staying in your backyard. Our menagerie consists of not only many dogs of our own, but also foster dogs, camels, a zebra, goats, sheep, horses, Asian water buffalo, antelope, wildebeest, a warthog, pigs, cats, donkeys, mules, cows, ponies, parrots and chickens - all of which must live together peacefully on the farm.

The Cottage
Originally built in 1957 in Athens, GA and relocated to Storybook Farm, the Cottage is located near the drop off of the Broad River and is an easy 16 miles northeast of Athens. Michelle Kaye, owner of the Cottage, has a deep appreciation for making the old into new and has a gift for finding the gentleness of the wild. The Cottage illustrates her free spirit and storytelling abilities through its refreshing aesthetics and undeniable warmth.
When staying at the Cottage, every moment offers the opportunity to see the magic of Storybook Farm!
As a guest, there are many experiences you can add on to enrich your stay. Enjoy the thrill of exploration during a 1 hour private ATV tour or get up close and personal with the animals during a 30 minute private feed and petting. For night time or family entertainment, rent out the fire pit and picnic tables. You can add all, none, or some of these experiences to your stay!
